The money collected will go to support our our upcoming trip to the Inauguration of President Barack Obama!

Meet Isaiah - My name is Isaiah, I am 14 years old and a 9th grade student at Hapeville Career Charter Academy. I was only eleven years old when I attended the first inauguration of President Barack Obama. I was old enough to understand that I was witnessing history, right before my eyes, yet too young to truly grasp the idea of what the event meant to so many other young men like me. Since then, Ive had many conversations with my parents, grandparents, and other adults in my life. They have pointed out the struggles that our president endured to get where he is today. I witnessed how hard he fought to get people to see things from his perspective. I believe that he is a true example of persistence in the face of adversity. Our president has shown me that in spite of all the obstacles placed before us, we have to stand our ground and fight to reach our goals. I would like to attend the inauguration, not only to show my support, but to witness history just one more time. Our elders never thought they would see an African American president in their lifetime, but now we all get to experience it twice! I want to be there, cheering him on just like the first time, on behalf of every young person like me. And this time, I'll be cheering with a deeper understanding of what I am experiencing--an opportunity to share with my family and my peers what it means to be strong, gifted, and resilient in the face of adversity. Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts. I sincerely hope that you will consider sponsoring my trip to the inauguration.
Meet Robert -Robert, is an 8th grade straight A honor roll student at KIPP STRIVE Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to maintaining his high grades, Robert is very active in extra curriculum activates both in and out school. Robert participates on his school award winning debate team where he has won several speaker and team awards over the last two years. He is a member of the KIPP Scribers 2011/2012 where he along with 15 other middle school students each wrote fiction short stories. Wrens Nest publishing compiled the stories, and published them in a book called After the Burn.
Robert participated on his schools basketball team and soccer teams. He also participates in the basketball program at a local recreation center, and is a member of First Tee Atlanta where he is Par certified in golf. In addition to basketball, golf and soccer, Robert completed in two youth triathlon event for the last two summers. This year he won 3rd place triathlon for the male, and was the 3rd fasted male runner.
Robert is a member of boy who d.a.r.e.,Inc., where the tradition of boy reading has continued to influence him greatly. He is also a member of the Future Leaders in American Government program (FLAG) where he given the honor to give a welcome speech in front of over 500 participates at a Center for Disease Control Blacks in Government event. He is a member of Chosen Generation, a teen ministry at the Body of Christ Church International, and participate in the youth choir.
Along with his parents and littler sister, Robert volunteers in the community primarily at the Atlanta Food Bank and MedShare Atlanta. Roberts future goals include college and law school. Robert desires tobecome a corporate lawyer and entrepreneur when he grows up.Meet MarQuise -My name is MarQuise, I am 14 years old and a current 8th grader at Hapeville Charter Middle School. I am the oldest of 4 children. I am a smart and nice young man. I want to be a football player for the NFL or a doctor when I grow up.
It was monumental when President Obama won the Presidential election in 2008, but to win a second term is amazing. I would love to witness him being inaugurated for his last term so that I can tell my children and their children and their children about this historical event.MeetEvann -My name is Evann, I am a ninth grade scholar athlete at H.W. Grady High School. I am so excited about the possibility of attending the second inauguration of President Barack Obama. Watching him these last four years has truly been inspiring and I am looking forward to seeing him in his role four more years! History has been made, and Ive been blessed to witness it. The book of James speaks of trials and triumphs. It says that because you know that the testing of you faith produces perseverance, which matures you and makes you complete. The country has watched the many trials of our president, and together weve helped him to be triumphant once again. It would truly be an honor to watch this inauguration, in person, one more time! Your support would provide an opportunity for me to represent countless young men just like me, dispelling the myth that our young black males are hopeless, I represent that HOPE, our President has fought so hard to preserve. The young men in our organization represent the true future of the black male, we are destined for greatness just like our ultimate role model, son of a single mother, husband, and father President Barack Obama.Meet DominiqueDominique, is a junior in high school. He is very well rounded and is very active in his community by serving a lead usher at J.S. Hammond Missionary Baptist Church; participates in Seventh Day Adventist Pathfinders, a member of Boys Who D.A.R.E. and Future Foundation, Inc.s Project R.E.S.T.O.R.E., where is continuously learning leadership skills. I would like for my son Dominique have the opportunity to attend the Inauguration because this would be an life time experience that he can be up close and person to see the swearing in of our new President where he does not have to read in our history books but to be a part of it. Meet Donovan -My name is Donovan, I am 13 years old and a 8th grade scholar at KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) Ways Academy in Atlanta Georgia. Because of my love of music, I love playing the trumpet in the KIPP Collegiate Atlanta Marching Band. I am really excited that our President, Barack Obama has been re-elected; and I am looking forward to another opportunity to go to Washington D.C. to witness his upcoming Inauguration The idea of traveling with my boys who d.a.r.e, Inc. friends grows stronger each day. I am a avid volunteer and I have made a few friends along the way and I have learned, for the average 13 year old male, these type of opportunities are FEW and far between. I am looking forward to our bus trip in January, I cant wait to get back to Atlanta to share the experience, story, pictures and souvenirs with my friends Lisa & Rock, and others.

What we do
boys who d.a.r.e., is an organization committed to helping youth reach their full potential by establishing a solid foundation in reading. Our goal is to empower young males 4 to 17 years of age through literary cultural and social programs. The organization is open to all males regardless to race, creed or color. Special emphasis is placed on developing a desire to read in African American males.

History of boys who d.a.r.e., Inc,Established in October 2003, a group of concerned parents, community leaders, local businesses and writers partnered with boys who d.a.r.e. to provide monthly literary events. Each month, young boys are introduced to a new book by a different adult male role model. In addition, boys who d.a.r.e exposes these youth to activities that focus on character education and increase social skills and cultural awareness. Our program focuses on the importance of reading by emphasizing the role of reading in everyday life. Each child leaves the event with a gift of a new book! The goal is to encourage parents and children to continue reading at home.
